Job Description:

world. Role and ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the teacher may
include, but are not limited to the following
tasks:InstructionProviding science instruction to students in
grades in High SchoolWillingly assisting the instructional process
in its many forms Supporting school-wide instructional
initiativesImplementing French Ministry of Education Science
curriculum along with Louisiana Science StandardsGathering student
data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and
designing strategies to meet student needsCreate daily lesson plans
and learning activities for students based on national, local and
school standards in science education and research and knowledge of
developmental behaviorsDesign and deliver high-quality, engaging
instruction in the form of discussion, demonstrations, labs, and
projects using a variety of proven methodsDifferentiate lessons
when needed to give all students access to the curriculum
regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency
or level of interest in the subjectEvaluate student performance on
tasks established by the standards using different methods such as
observation, performance-based tasks or other standard test
practicesImprove skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly
taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of
delivering exciting content to students.Maintaining an accurate and
current gradebook, tracking student data, and drafting report
cards. Conducting school-wide benchmark and state
assessmentsCommunity-Based Learning InitiativesAssisting in the
delivery of curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich
the learning experiences of studentsPlanning and chaperoning field
trips and projects related to Lycee's Thinking Outside the
Classroom ProgramOther DutiesEffectively communicating with school
administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents
regarding student performance and plans for improvement
Participating in SBLC, IEP, and 504 meetings as neededSupporting
students and administration in Positive Behavior Intervention and
Support philosophyAssisting students in adopting a behavior
conducive to success in the classroom settingParticipating in
faculty meetings and professional learning communities
meetingsAssisting in orientation and open houses if
requestedModeling non-discriminatory practices in all
activitiesPerforming other job related functions as may be
assignedBeing punctual, reviewing and following all Staff Handbook
policies and procedures Expectations, Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higherExperience in instruction in an
elementary, middle, or secondary school settingFlexibility and a
team-spirit work ethic Well developed interpersonal skills
Remaining current with Louisiana Student Standards and other
instructional requirementsAbility to work in a diverse environment
with a multicultural teamAbility to learn and adapt to new
curriculum (French Ministry of Education science curriculum)
Preferred Qualifications Louisiana CertificationThree or more years
teaching experienceFluency in FrenchExperience in differentiating
instruction and supporting students with learning challenges.
