Job Description:

world. Role and ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the teacher may
include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Instruction
- Providing science instruction to students in grades in High
School
- Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many
forms
- Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives
- Implementing French Ministry of Education Science curriculum
along with Louisiana Science Standards
- Gathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing
tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needs
- Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students
based on national, local and school standards in science education
and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors
- Design and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the
form of discussion, demonstrations, labs, and projects using a
variety of proven methods
- Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access
to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level,
English proficiency or level of interest in the subject
- Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the
standards using different methods such as observation,
performance-based tasks or other standard test practices
- Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking
classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of
delivering exciting content to students.
- Maintaining an accurate and current gradebook, tracking student
data, and drafting report cards.
- Conducting school-wide benchmark and state
assessmentsCommunity-Based Learning Initiatives
- Assisting in the delivery of curriculum that utilizes community
resources to enrich the learning experiences of students
- Planning and chaperoning field trips and projects related to
Lycee's Thinking Outside the Classroom ProgramOther Duties
- Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers,
student service personnel, parents regarding student performance
and plans for improvement
- Participating in SBLC, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed
- Supporting students and administration in Positive Behavior
Intervention and Support philosophy
- Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success
in the classroom setting
- Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning
communities meetings
- Assisting in orientation and open houses if requested
- Modeling non-discriminatory practices in all activities
- Performing other job related functions as may be assigned
- Being punctual, reviewing and following all Staff Handbook
policies and procedures
Expectations, Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience in instruction in an elementary, middle, or
secondary school setting
- Flexibility and a team-spirit work ethic
- Well developed interpersonal skills
- Remaining current with Louisiana Student Standards and other
instructional requirements
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with a multicultural
team
- Ability to learn and adapt to new curriculum (French Ministry
of Education science curriculum) Preferred Qualifications
- Louisiana Certification
- Three or more years teaching experience
- Fluency in French
- Experience in differentiating instruction and supporting
